This combination provides the hardness and durability of diamond with the high impact resistance and large blade advantages of hard alloy, significantly improving drilling efficiency for medium to super hard rock formations.
Matrix PDC drill bits are cutting-type drills where diamond compacts are welded to the drill matrix through brazing. These bits are sintered with tungsten carbide powder, brazed with artificial polycrystalline diamond composite sheets, and utilize natural diamond for diameter maintenance.
Steel body PDC bits are machined from nickel, chromium, and molybdenum alloys. After heat treatment, drill holes are created in the bit body where artificial polycrystalline diamond composite sheets are placed, using columnar carbon tungsten gauge for optimal performance.
